It’s a common phenomenon. Compromised centrist liberals get into bad situations which frustrate people, and because the progressive left is weak people turn to the right as the only alternative. Happening all over Europe. Just happened in Argentina. Our politics are screwed up.

Agree. I think the problem is deeper; we live in a "political-economy" not just a body politic. The inequitable distribution of wealth (between and within countries) is a major driver of the politics.

Well, never fear, with the coming of the end of cheap energy slaves (fossil fuels) we can return to earlier versions of economic (and political) inequity.

By some accounts, when the Roman Empire broke down, it liberated large areas from the legions and tax collectors. Might not be all bad.

The sooner the collapse happens (dis-integration of global economy), the better. It appears from the published science that the hotter it gets the lower the biological carrying capacity of the Earth becomes. Aside from lots less stability which means less ability to grow food. Thus, the sooner GHG emissions stop, the better. People as a group appear to be largely incapable of grasping this fact, so we keep on with BAU. It's pretty depressing...

Yup. I struggle with that. I seem to see more big vehicles in my neighborhood. Fossil fuel production is expanding. Blind rush to oblivion.

Thanks for doing this. We all have to stand against genocide, or we lose our humanity as children, reporters, doctors and regular citizens lose their lives.
