While I do mostly agree with you, I am very sad to report that I've been unsubscribing from anarchist type groups, even ones that embrace decentralization, so long as they keep talking about the left right politics crap. IT IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN A DISTRACTION. I don't want to hear another word about democracy. I'm looking for entirely proactive discussions that ignore the "power structures" which claim authority today, vs treating them like the we somehow ought to work within them.
It legitimates them, even if only a little, and we are way past that. I'm not advocating violence or destruction. I'm looking for people who are just going to build a better solution and let the old systems die organically as more people embrace clearly better options. We need to make those options and make sure they're clearly better and make sure people are aware they exist. Then let them choose for themselves whether to follow the old way or try something new.
IMHO the reason this isn't happening is because far too many of the people who we need to be creative and active as ever right now are busy rationalizing grey areas instead of spending that time at least proposing we drop it and spread the word, make something better. If everyone just started ignoring politics, it would be a near death blow. We're keeping them going by engaging. Stop.
With all respect, I don't intend this as a criticism or to be insulting at all. I'm fine with you sharing your views and hope you understand at least a little why I'm here sharing mine 🙏.
There is so much up in the air, so many opportunities to guide the direction of future human society in a million ways. Yes, the world is in a pretty bad place, but I really hope I inspire at least one person to get out and start something that could be a true game changer in empowering novel patterns of voluntary self organization.
My things is tech, it's my area of expertise and I'm working hard to make sure AI is in the hands of everyone who wants it. I see it as a potential game changer. Maybe not THE solution, but one of many unknowns with potential. I'm no fan of capitalism, but Blockchain and web3 are other possible disruptors.
Thanks for hearing me out to anyone who read this. I'm writing online less and less so I can focus on action that moves needles I believe it and can truly contribute to. Perhaps this is one of my final appeals. I wish a truly free world for everyone , and my very best wishes to all, and special respect for all those who trade the easy path to get involved in making the world better for future generations. 🙏❤️☯️🔥💧🌱🌄🌅🏞️🍃🌳🌍🌌
The problem is that those old structures will take down the planet if we just let them “die organically.” We’ll be swamped in the consequences. We need to be building alternatives, and at the same time reshaping existing systems to work within planetary boundaries. This is what I try to get at when I talk about building dual power, new structures of legitimacy and popular consensus. No, we can’t ignore politics, because it is society’s way of allocating limited resources. Others are war and dictatorship, and politics is clearly preferable. If abandoning politics was a death blow to the system, why would there be such efforts at voter suppression? The powers that be would like to limit political participation so they can rule with the least interference. Tech gurus such as Curtis Yarvin would like to replace democracy with a corporate capitalist dictatorship. We need to reclaim democracy and rebuild it from the local an bioregional level. Technologies might help, but people organizing using their natural intelligence is what will get us through this.
Excellent commentary! I am going to try and share it. Thanks, Patrick!
amen
